STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Those looking to the night sky Thursday will find the captivating Cold Moon shining bright over New York City.
According to AccuWeather , this supermoon is the last full moon of the year. This astronomical sight will reach peak illumination around 6:14 p.m., as noted by Timeanddate.com .
This full moon will appear particularly bright as it will be about 17,000 miles closer than usual, AccuWeather said. Typically, the moon is 238,855 miles away.
While the Cold Moon will peak on Thursday evening, it has appeared full for the past two days and will continue to appear full through Saturday, as indicated in the AccuWeather report.
