NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - Nearly 90 new homes are coming to North Augusta after the city finalized annexation for a development near Exit 1, an area that has seen significant growth in recent years.

Trees have been cut down to make way for apartments and homes, and now city leaders have approved another 90 new homes in the same area. While neighbors have raised questions about how the city will handle the boom in growth and traffic, city officials say they are addressing those concerns.

Tommy Paradise, planning director for the city of North Augusta, said the expansion started as a request from the county, which needed city resources. The city agreed but wanted to ensure they were staying within guidelines.
