LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Texas A&M International University has received a $38 million gift from Yield Giving, owned by Mackenzie Scott — the second-largest donation in the university’s 55-year history.

University officials said they will analyze data to identify priorities and expect to announce investment decisions after the review, with more information by mid-spring.

TAMIU President Christopher Maynard said the gift will benefit future generations.

“Over the next couple of months, we will be doing a dive into the data to make sure we understand what is going to have the biggest impact on our students, and student’s success. That could look in a variety of ways, that could mean access to the university and making it more affordable, it could also mean providing initial student support,
