HOUSTON (KPRC) – A family in Texas was able to snap an unexpected photo after hearing something at the front door two weeks ago.

“I took a peek, literally opened the door,” Valeria Capetillo said.

Valeria Capetillo, of Houston, was going to post the picture on Facebook to help the dog find its owner and its way home, but then her 3-year-old son, Santiago, came running to see.

“It just happened so fast, and I couldn’t try to stop the dog,” Valeria Capetillo said. “I put my leg so he could bite me instead, but he just went after him.”

Santiago’s parents said the neighbor’s dog lunged through the door and attacked the 3-year-old boy.

“My first instinct was, ‘Get the dog off of my son,’” Alex Capetillo, Santiago’s father, said. “So, I choked the dog enough to go ahead to where the dog kin
