KENTWOOD, MI – Kayd Coffman lost count of how many times he visited Michigan State during his college football recruitment.
The East Kentwood senior quarterback received a scholarship offer from head coach former Jonathan Smith in November 2024, verbally committed to the Spartans less than a month later and has since spent many a weekend driving the 70-mile stretch of highway that separates Kentwood and East Lansing.
The MSU football program looks quite a bit different now, following the firing of Smith and the hiring of former Northwestern head coach Pat Fitzgerald , but Coffman sealed his commitment to the Spartans by officially joining the program on Wednesday to start the early signing period.
