Deadpool , the Merc’ With a Mouth–then just a Deathstroke and Terminator rip-off and not the self-aware figure he’d become. A few months earlier, Animal Man #25 introduced the Writer, a kind Scottish person who welcomes Animal Man Buddy Baker into their home and explains that they are the cause of all the heroes’ suffering because they are Grant Morrison , the writer of the comic.
