ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A St. Louis man was convicted Thursday of selling fentanyl to a teen in 2023, leading to their death.
The U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri said Bobby Lee Jones, 27, was found guilty on one count of distribution of fentanyl resulting in death.
Jones’ sentencing date has yet to be announced.
Prosecutors said the 18-year-old victim initially reached out to Jones on Jan. 15, 2023, looking to purchase marijuana. Prosecutors said Jones then offered the victim Percocet as well.
They said the two met up later that day. Prosecutors said the pills Jones sold her were actually fake, containing a fatal dose of fentanyl. The victim was found the next day after her boyfriend was unable to reach her by phone.
