CAMP PENDLETON NORTH, Calif. — A Marine with the I Marine Expeditionary Force died during a "tactical vehicle mishap" during routine training on base Wednesday afternoon, a Camp Pendleton spokesperson confirmed.
The Marine died around 1:45 p.m. on December 3 at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. Few details have been released about how the mishap happened, and officials say the cause remains under investigation.
The Marine’s identity has not yet been made public pending next-of-kin notification.
In October, A U.S. Marine Corps pilot was killed and another injured after an AH-1Z Viper helicopter crashed during a training mission near Imperial Gables, California.
