BELTON, Texas — Inside a portable building at Belton ISD's Chisolm Trail Elementary, something magical is taking shape this holiday season.
Soon-- the tables will be stacked with toys, games and gifts. Wrapping paper will line the walls. A cocoa and coffee station awaits visitors. It's all part of the school's Elf Closet —a free store where parents can shop for presents to put under their own trees.
"We wanna make sure that everyone can experience the holiday joy," said Angela Cavanaugh, a counselor at the school. "It is a store that we create for our families."
The Elf Closet first opened its doors in 2013, but when Cavanaugh joined the school, she gave the program a major upgrade. She moved the operation from inside the school building to a portable classroom, transforming it into w
