Amidst a disappointing first quarter of the season, the Toronto Maple Leafs have managed to join an exclusive group while picking up the pace.

With Bobby McMann‘s goal on Toronto’s first shot of the game early in the first period against the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday, the Leafs became just the second team since the 2009-10 season to register a goal on their first shot in four straight games.

The Tampa Bay Lightning also accomplished the feat in 2021.

McMann is the first Maple Leafs forward to score first over the stretch, as well as the earliest, with his goal coming 53 seconds into the game. Troy Stecher, Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Morgan Rielly were the first goal-scorers in the previous three matches.
