BERTIE COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - After serving in the role since 2022, Bertie County Department of Social Services Director Daphine Little turned in her resignation last week.

On Thursday, Bertie County commissioners met to vote on who will step into the role until it can be permanently filled.

“The current director has resigned, effective December 31st, and the board of commissioners unanimously selected an interim director.” Bertie County Manager Juan Vaughan II says. “We’re excited and looking forward to continuing the services that we provide to our Bertie County citizens.”

County leaders say current DSS employee Yolanda White will be serving as interim director until January.
