ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —

Albuquerque officials coordinated efforts overnight to clear roads and provide shelter for those in need as temperatures dropped and snow fell across the city.

"Municipal development crews were out on our streets making sure that they were salted and treated so that we wake up this morning to wet roads instead of ice skating rinks," said Jennifer Turner, Director of the Department of Municipal Development.

The department reported that 12 crews patrolled the streets overnight, ensuring roads were salted and de-iced before freezing conditions set in. Albuquerque Police and Albuquerque Community Safety also made efforts to ensure people on the streets did not freeze overnight.
