A Fort Wayne man was sentenced Thursday to six years in prison after he reportedly fired a gun at his pregnant girlfriend.
Michael E. Ward, 31, was initially charged with attempted murder, criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon and unlawful carrying of a gun. In October, he pleaded guilty to the criminal recklessness charge by entering an agreement.
His remaining charges were dismissed Thursday when Allen Superior Court Fran Gull accepted the plea agreement. The document also included a suggested sentence of six years.
The shooting happened the morning of April 17 near the intersection of Stophlet and College avenues. Ward’s girlfriend was in the backseat of an Uber driver’s vehicle, a probable cause affidavit said.
