The Monterey Park City Council this week postponed a key vote on a controversial, proposed data center in town, amid public demands for more time to weigh in on the project.

The center, if ultimately approved by the council, would replace mostly-unoccupied office buildings along Saturn Ave., and include 24 generators, a Southern California Edison substation, and would be a total 247,480 square feet. Up to 26 employees would typically work in the center building every 24 hours, according to a city report.
