HAMMOND, La. —
Days after a teen was gunned down at a Hammond shopping center, community members decided to come together, crafting a plan to combat youth violence.
On Sunday, Nov. 30, 18-year-old Jermaine Stevenson Jr. was shot to death as he waited to get his hair cut at the Towne and Country Shopping Center. He was living in Lafayette for school but was visiting family and loved ones in Hammond at the time of his death. Advertisement
Hammond police said the alleged gunman, 19-year-old Kylan Green, was arrested after he called police to report that he had shot someone.
Stevenson's mother, Brittany Beale, is now left with planning a funeral for her beloved son they affectionately called Meatball, instead of celebrating the holidays with him.
