After a five-year wait, the owner of Bathtub Bikes along International Avenue says the new business sign he received earlier in the week gave the same joy he felt when he first opened up shop.
Adam Rhind, the owner of Bathtub Bikes, said that since opening five years ago, his goal has been to make bikes affordable and accessible for everyone.
“So the stuff that gets donated to us, we refurbish it with kids in the area, local volunteers, things like that,” Rhind said. “And then what we do is we resell those bikes for $100, like a nice entry-level point for something that’s maintainable, gets you around and into the sport.”
Growing up in the southeast community of Penbrooke, he would often be seen riding in the area and venturing into the parking lots of nearby businesses in Forest Lawn.
