BOSTON —
The B.A.A. and Adidas partnered to unveil the 2026 celebration jacket for the 2026 Boston Marathon.
The jacket is a salute to the storied tradition of the race.
"It is so exciting that we are going to be celebrating the 130th running on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the country by bringing back the blue, the yellow, and the stitching," said B.A.A. President and CEO Jack Fleming.
As the runners, volunteers, and NewsCenter 5 staff can attest, the colors of the official jacket changes every year.
In the last few years, Adidas has committed to making the jackets from recycled materials. However, the result tended to be a thinner fabric that puckered when embroidered.
The good news, though, is that technology has evolved, and the stitching is back!
