MEDFORD, Mass. —

Thousands of National Grid customers across Malden and Medford, Massachusetts after a tree limb fell Thursday night, knocking down several power lines.

The tree limb toppled over in the area of Spring Street and Lawrence Street in Medford.

There were no reports of any injuries, but the tree limb did damage two cars in addition to the overhead wires.

Firefighters on scene told NewsCenter 5 the affected lines were a high-voltage transmission, meaning the lines supplied power to a large area.

Crews did not provide a timetable for when power would return to the area.

Wind chills are expected to be near zero degrees overnight, according to StormTeam 5 Meteorologist Mike Wankum.
