The Empty Stocking Fund is a 45-year-old project first presented by The New Mexican . It then became a service of the Santa Fe Community Foundation. Each year, hundreds of people receive aid from the fund during the holiday season to help cover rent payments, medical bills, utility costs, car repairs, home improvements and other needs.
Who it helps: Applicants, who must live in Santa Fe or Rio Arriba counties and must provide documents that provide proof of their identity, are considered without regard to race, age, ethnicity, gender identity or sexual orientation. Applications for aid opened Dec. 1 and will remain open until Jan. 31 or when funds run out.
2025 goal: $475,000
