An "extremely urgent" appeal has been issued to find foster homes for dozens of cats that were rescued from a hoarding situation

The volunteer-run Friends of Minneapolis Animal Care and Control (MACC) first issued the appeal last month after the 47 cats were rescued.

At the time the MACC shelter was already experiencing an "explosion" in the cat population, and that has only worsened since, with an additional 15 cats being taken in from a separate eviction case.

As such, the shelter's intake ward is full and unless foster volunteers are found by 2 p.m. Friday, a number of the cats will be euthanized, according to Friends of MACC.
