A local family says they are having to relive their sister’s painful tragedy all over again.
Erik Chatman was sentenced to death for brutally murdering Rosellina Lo Bue back in 1987. His death sentence has since been reduced to life without parole.
But a new hearing set for Friday could give the killer the opportunity to get out of prison altogether – and the victim’s family is outraged.
A jury convicted Erik Chatman of torturing Lo Bue, stabbing her 51 times back in 1987 at a San Jose photo drive up, where Lo Bue was a clerk.
Chatman had his 4-year-old son with him at the murder scene, where she bled to death.
Chatman was sentenced to death, but three years ago, the DA asked a judge to remove the death sentence as part of statewide judicial and prison reform efforts.
