SALEM, Va. (WDBJ) - Veterans from western Virginia are looking to Richmond for help, and Thursday night they shared their concerns with local lawmakers.

Members of the Roanoke Valley Veterans Council met at American Legion Post #3 in Salem to hear from Delegate-Elect Lily Franklin (D), Delegates Joe McNamara (R), and Sam Rasoul (D), and Senators David Suetterlein (R) and Chris Head (R).

The veterans council shared seven proposals, including expanded benefits for specific groups of veterans, and changes in state law that would aid suicide prevention, and restrict companies that prey on veterans.
