On Day 2 of President Vladimir Putin’s ongoing state visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Russian leader will hold the 23rd India–Russia summit today, with discussions expected to focus on defence, trade and emerging energy cooperation.

On Thursday evening, the Prime Minister personally received the Russian President at Delhi's Palam airport, marking a rare diplomatic gesture. The two leaders shared a hug and a handshake, before travelling together in a white Toyota Fortuner to 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, the PM's official residence.
