GHAZIABAD: A 75-year-old jewellery shop owner in Modinagar was stabbed to death on Thursday morning during a robbery in Govindpuri. CCTV footage, retrieved by police, shows the victim seated at the counter when a man wearing a monkey cap enters, throws red chilli powder in his face, then climbs onto the counter and stabs him more than 10 times. The assailant was caught by local residents after a brief chase, about 30 metres from the shop, and later detained by police. The incident occurred shortly after 8.30 am, when the victim, Girdhari Lal, had opened his shop, Girdhari Lal & Sons Jewellery, on the ground floor of his residence.
