Marnus Labuschagne pulled off one of the finest outfield catches on Day 2 of the second Ashes Test between Australia and England at the Gabba in Brisbane. Labuschagne dived full length to take a superb outfield catch that dismissed Jofra Archer, the last England wicket to fall in the first innings on Friday, 5 December.
Brendan Doggett went into the wickets column, but if cricket’s rules were fairer, Marnus Labuschagne might well have earned it himself. The right-arm fast bowler delivered a short-pitched ball in an attempt to trouble the tail-ender, who had wagged impressively towards the end of Day 1 and pushed England’s total beyond 300.
