But as Sean Steckert and his teammates slowly but surely improved, the thought became more and more real: Southern Lehigh could win a football state title.
The Spartans broke the first barrier this year: they got to the big game. But that wasn’t enough. They had to win it.
After a thorough performance on Thursday night at Chapman Field, led by a record-breaking showing by their senior running back, Southern Lehigh accomplished that goal, defeating Twin Valley 43-21 in the PIAA 4A football final at Chapman Field in Mechanicsburg.
