HARRISBURG –- Central Dauphin freshman Trey Salvaggio had a varsity debut to remember Thursday night as he faced State College junior Jon Whitbred in a 133-pound dual meet bout.

Salvaggio trailed Whitbred by two points in the waning seconds but managed to parlay a headlock into a three-point takedown just before the buzzer to score an emphatic 6-5 victory.

The bout helped propel the Central Dauphin boys wrestlers to a 46-18 victory over State College in the Mid-Penn Conference Commonwealth Division season-opener for both squads.
