Jeff Kinney, after creating, writing and extending his “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” series of books, animated films and stories, is not done yet.

Yes, Friday’s Disney+ animated feature is called “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Last Straw” but it is certainly not, Kinney, 54, acknowledged with a smile in a virtual interview, the last of anything.

“I like the title because it’s the last straw between Greg and his father who’s threatening to send him to this military academy. So ‘the last straw’ is the last thing that Greg does to confirm his father’s conviction of sending him away.”

Is that semi-autobiographical, the threat of being sent away?

“I did get sent to an all-boys Catholic high school but I don’t think that was quite the same as a military academy.
