A crash on the country's longest motorway has caused lane closures, sparking major delays for motorists this morning.

The collision has happened on the northbound carriageway of the M6 near Birmingham between junctions 4A for the M42 and junction 5 for Castle Bromwich, Castle Vale and Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham Live reports. Traffic monitoring site Inrix has said: "Long delays and two lanes closed due to accident. Overturned vehicle involved on M6 Northbound from J4A M42 J8 to J5 A452 Chester Road (Castle Bromwich). Congestion to back past J4 (Coleshill)." 08:20 KEY EVENT
