The government has reminded taxpayers to complete the mandatory PAN–Aadhaar linking by December 31, 2025, warning that Permanent Account Numbers (PAN) that remain unlinked will become inoperative from January 1, 2026.

According to the Income Tax Department's latest directive, the requirement applies particularly to individuals who were issued a PAN using an Aadhaar enrolment ID before October 1, 2024.
