The care regulator has been accused of failing to act on multiple warnings about a care home manager who faked a resident’s will to steal her estate, Channel 4 News can reveal.
At least five separate complaints were made to the Care Quality Commission (CQC) – including one more than a decade before Jamiel Slaney-Summers was able to target Rita Barnsley inside Amberley Care Home in Dudley.
Two further safeguarding concerns were directly raised with England’s care regulator about the financial abuse of Miss Barnsley, including a notification that was logged six months before the 84-year-old’s death in August 2021.
