New Delhi, Dec 05: Indian Railways has recruited 5.08 lakh people over the past 10 years, marking a 23.6% increase compared to the previous decade, as reported by Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in Parliament.
This includes recruitment of 1,20,579 vacancies for the annual calendar years 2024 and 2025. The minister emphasized that this workforce enhancement caters to operational, technological, and innovative needs.
Notably, 10 Centralised Employment Notifications (CENs) for 92,116 vacancies were announced for various positions, such as Assistant Loco Pilots and Junior Engineers in 2024.
Furthermore, computer-based tests for 32,438 level-1 vacancies started from November 27, 2025, across 140 cities, while Physical Efficiency Tests for 4,208 RPF Constable positions began on November 1
