A day after Rahul Gandhi accused the Narendra Modi government of breaking the tradition of inviting Opposition leaders to meet visiting delegations, India Today has learnt that both the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and the party chief, Mallikarjun Kharge, have not been invited to dinner organised for Russian President Vladimir Putin at the President's residence tonight. Interestingly, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has been invited, party sources told India Today TV.

This development comes as government sources dismissed Rahul Gandhi's charge, calling it unfounded. Sources also clarified that it is the visiting delegation, and not the Ministry of External Affairs, that decides whether they will meet anyone outside the government.
