IndiGo, India’s largest airline, is facing a severe operational crisis, with thousands of passengers stranded due to nationwide flight cancellations and delays. On Friday, over 400 flights were cancelled, following hundreds of cancellations the previous days, as the airline struggled with crew shortages and challenges arising from newly implemented Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) norms.

In a video message, IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers acknowledged the crisis, apologising for the inconvenience caused. He described December 5 as the worst day of operational disruptions in the airline’s history, with over a thousand flights cancelled, amounting to more than half of its daily schedule.
