KILLEEN, Texas — A high speed crash in Killeen on Thursday afternoon left one person dead after a vehicle went airborne twice before bursting into flames.
Killeen Police Department officers were sent to the 4800 block of E. Rancier Avenue at approximately 4:33 p.m. Thursday for reports of a single-vehicle crash. When police arrived at the scene, they found that the vehicle was off of the roadway and engulfed in fire.
The preliminary investigation performed by the department revealed that the vehicle, a gray Infiniti SUV, was traveling eastbound at high speeds when it left the roadway and entered a drainage culvert, causing the vehicle to go airborne.
The SUV then landed near a tree line, ran over several trees and became airborne a second time.
