Thousands of carers across Lanarkshire will receive a welcome boost to their finances ahead of Christmas with the Carer’s Allowance Supplement payment being paid into bank accounts. ‌

The Carer’s Allowance Supplement is an extra payment of £293.50, currently made twice a year, for people in Scotland who get Carer Support Payment or Carer’s Allowance. ‌

The payment, which is only available in Scotland, was introduced by the Scottish Government in 2018. ‌

Since then, over one million payments have been made and hundreds of millions of pounds delivered helping to ease some of the financial pressures on unpaid carers.
