Last month, playwright, producer, and actor Jeremy O. Harris was arrested in Japan on suspicion of allegedly attempting to smuggle drugs into the country, local authorities revealed Thursday night. Per Reuters , the Tony-nominated scribe behind Slave Play has been detained in Japan for nearly three weeks since being arrested on November 16 at Naha Airport on the southern Japanese island of Okinawa.
According to a spokesperson for Okinawa Regional Customs, per Reuters, Harris was stopped at Naha Airport after a customs officer discovered 780 milligrams grams of crystal containing the synthetic narcotic MDMA, also known as ecstasy, in his tote bag. The 36-year-old was reportedly immediately arrested on suspicion of violating Japan’s Narcotics and Psychotropics Control Act. S
