A Glasgow man has been left disappointed at 'sad' Christmas tree lights, which have recently been installed in the east end . Martin Monaghan says the tree on Carntynehall Square is "pathetic" and that he laughed in disbelief when he first saw the display.

The local says that over the past couple of years, the display in the area has gone downhill, but feels more effort could have been put into making the tree dazzle for the Christmas period. In a picture shared with Glasgow Live, the tree can be seen with some untidy lighting dangling from the top, with an unsightly metal fence surrounding the bottom.

He says that while he understands council budgets are being stretched, he feels the authority could have done "a wee bit better". Martin told us: "They could've done better with this,
