What will Gavin do?

That’s what BC Conservatives are wondering, whether Gavin Dew, the BC Conservative MLA for Kelowna Mission, will run for the suddenly-vacant leadership of the party.

For now, he’s not saying yes. But he’s not saying no, either.

“My phone has been blowing up with encouragement and offers of support from all over the place,” Dew said Friday. “That means a lot, and I’m taking the calls and texts seriously.”

But Dew, who is married with two young children, also says politics take a heavy personal toll.

“I love this province and I love this country, but I love my kids more,” he said. “It breaks my heart when my kids ask if Daddy is ever coming home. I’m not sure I want to put my family through even more of that, and that’s a major source of hesitation,” Dew said.
