The Rule 5 Draft is fast approaching, and every Major League Baseball team has a couple of players they're crossing their fingers and hoping to keep.

If minor-leaguers have been in the organization for a certain number of years (it varies by how they were signed) and haven't been added to the 40-man roster, they are Rule 5 eligible. Any team can draft them, but if they do not spend the entire season either on the active major league roster or the injured list, they are returned to their old clubs.

The Toronto Blue Jays, fresh off their first World Series in 32 years, have a more crowded 40-man roster than most. That meant they didn't have enough space to protect 23-year-old outfielder Yohendrick Pinango last month at the deadline to protect otherwise Rule 5-eligible prospects.
