MAINE, USA — Last month, editors of the famous publication "Farmers' Almanac" announced the 2026 edition would be their last, after 208 years in business.

The publication is best known for its weather predictions, best days calendars, horoscopes, life hacks, and gardening tips.

NEWS CENTER Maine sat down with Editor Emeritus Peter Geiger, from Lewiston, Maine, and Editor Sandi Duncan, from Washington, New Jersey, to discuss why the publication was ending.

Duncan said times have changed, with new book-distribution methods and search engines like Google creating tough competition.

Since the Nov. 6 announcement to shutter the publication, Geiger said it has felt similar to attending his own wake — in light of all the lovely things people have said about the almanac.
