BBC stalwart Dave Monk has tragically died at the age of 72 following a courageous fight against pancreatic cancer . The beloved radio presenter graced BBC Radio Essex for nearly four decades before receiving his devastating diagnosis in 2024.

Born David Travis, he was amongst the pioneering presenters when BBC Essex first went on air in 1986, and reported on momentous events including the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.

In his poignant farewell message to listeners, Dave urged: "Look after yourself, have a lot of fun, and don't forget, the more you laugh, the more you live. Goodbye."
