Space heaters can keep you warm and cozy when temperatures drop, but they can also lead to a serious home fire if they aren’t used properly.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, space heaters are the most dangerous type of home heating equipment, causing 1,700 blazes per year and an average of 70 deaths and 160 injuries. December is also considered one of the leading months for home fires, according to the National Fire Protection Association, in large part due to space heaters.
