INDIANAPOLIS (WPTA) - A contentious bill meant to give Republicans a 9-0 advantage in Indiana’s congressional races passed the House Friday in a 57-41 vote.
All House Democrats voted against House Bill 1032. 12 House Republicans also voted against its passage.
The passage follows House Republicans’ nearly unanimous rejection of revisions proposed by Democrats.
The plan would significantly alter District 3 in northeast Indiana, relocating Noble and Whitley counties to District 2 and Huntington, Wells, and Blackford counties to District 5. It would also split Marion County, the state’s most populous county, into four separate districts.
Currently, the majority of Marion County is in District 7.
