SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - One of two people accused of being involved in a stabbing in Sioux City has been sentenced.

On Thursday, Dec. 4, a judge sentenced 24-year-old Tariq Thomas of Sioux City to serve no more than 10 years in prison, after pleading guilty to one count of Willful Injury Causing Serious Injury, according to court documents.

He has also been ordered to pay a fine of $1,370 as well as court costs and court-appointed fees. Court documents reveal the temporary no-contact order between Tariq Thomas and the victim; Saville Thomas has also been extended to five years.

The sentencing comes after Tariq Thomas, and 34-year-old Mariah Thomas were arrested on Monday, Oct. 20, when Sioux City police officers and detectives investigated a stabbing which sent one person to the hospital.
