OGDENSBURG, New York (WWNY) - To get state funding flowing again to North Star Health Alliance, Albany needs more answers on how funding already provided has been spent.

Albany officials say Governor Hochul has, since 2024, provided $142 million for North Star between the Carthage and Ogdensburg campuses, but hospital officials say Friday it’s important to understand more about that funding.

The situation puts North Star , which runs Claxton-Hepburn in Ogdensburg, Carthage Area Hospital and Meadowbrook Terrace in the Town of Champion, in a dire situation where elected leaders and hospital officials are finding ways to meet a $5.5 million dollar payroll due next week.
