A Baltimore man has been indicted on arson and homicide charges in connection with the 2022 Stricker Street fire that killed three city firefighters, nearly four years after the blaze prompted a sweeping local and federal investigation and renewed scrutiny of the city’s vacant-home crisis.
According to Baltimore City Circuit Court records, James Edwin Barnett, 57, has been indicted on second-degree arson, three counts of second-degree murder, three counts of involuntary manslaughter and three counts of reckless endangerment. The indictment was filed Dec. 3. Barnett, of the 3400 block of Gwynns Falls Parkway, was arrested Nov. 14. No defense attorney is listed in online court records.
