House Democrats are furious with Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) over the chamber’s latest swearing-in ceremony.
Johnson on Thursday swore in Rep. Matt Van Epps (R-Tenn.) around 36 hours after his Tuesday special election win. That swift turnaround contrasts sharply with the record-long wait Rep. Adelita Grijalva (D-Ariz.) endured, leading Democrats to accuse Johnson of playing partisan games.
“Rep. Van Epps has been sworn in LESS THAN TWO DAYS after winning his election,” read a post from the House Democrats X account . “Rep. Grijalva was sworn in 50 DAYS after hers. House Republicans only act swiftly when it suits them and their billionaire friends.”
