CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — For over 30 years, the Fowler family at French Creek Christmas Trees has provided locally grown Christmas trees and wreaths to families all over West Virginia.
For many families, the yearly tradition of selecting a live Christmas tree is one of the holiday's defining events.
"Our farm is a strictly 'choose andcut,' where the people come in, we give them an introduction to where everything is, hand them a saw, and they go walking around through the fields and pick their own tree and cut it themselves," said Matilda Fowler, co-owner and -operator of French Creek Christmas Trees with her husband, Ron Fowler. "Then they bring it back to where we have a baler to wrap the tree for them."
The Fowlers say they don't just sell trees; they help create memories and experiences.
