Residents in the Twin Cities east metro may get a new way to get to downtown St. Paul in the coming years.
The Bronze Line, a $375 million rapid transit bus project, will connect Maplewood Mall with St. Paul’s Union Depot, officials said this week. Construction is not set to begin until at least 2028.
It will run along a 10-mile route with 22 stops, 5 miles of bus lanes and two new bridges.
Officials say the project will put a renewed focus on community, safety and accessibility — addressing the issues that delayed development of the Purple Line, which lost support from Maplewood in 2022.
